Pandell’s Annual Charity Drive Gives $18,000 in Gifts to Discovery House Families

Pandell Staff & Friends Rally to Deliver Christmas Cheer to Victims of Domestic Violence in Calgary

2016 was a tough year in Alberta. In addition to an increased number of families dealing with financial hardships, the number of families coping with domestic violence had also increased. Thankfully there’s an organization called Discovery House that works to provide safe and supportive housing for women and children fleeing abusive living situations.

The staff here at Pandell decided we wanted to help. So, working with the wonderful staff at Discovery House, we raised over $18,000 and delivered a truckload of gifts to the 19 moms and 33 kids living in DH’s secured apartment complex. We carted in clothes, bed & bath supplies, household goods, toiletries, winter coats, boots, electronics, toys, and much more, all wrapped up in colorful paper and bows. We were especially thrilled to donate boxes of gifts that would be used to set up a “Santa Store” for each child to be able shop for a few special items for their mom.

We couldn’t have done it without help. So, we’d like to say a special THANKS to all our important supporters. First, to all our business partners and friends whose donation of bikes, moving trucks, baskets, services, gift cards, jewelry, and so much more, went a long way in helping to raise money for Discovery House. You’re all awesome.

And second, to our colleagues and their families, who worked tirelessly to bake, build, create, and beg for wonderful auction treasures. (And who didn’t seek revenge after being humiliated in our charity darts or ping-pong tournaments). Thanks for coming together and lending your support.
